Quilting May 24th
Post date: May 25, 2016 4:17:55 PM
Dear Son's Chapel Volunteers,
It was a beautiful, sunny, warm , very busy and productive, spring day for 18 quilters/stitchers.
Quite surprisingly, an Arkansas Gazette photographer stopped by, taking photos for a "personal interest story". He said, "He was attracted by our many cars in the parking lot." Hoping that the Chapel and our upcoming Open House will get press coverage.
SHOW and TELL: D knitted a beautiful, dusty pink sweater. We were awed by the scalloped edges, cable inlays and matching buttons. G was wearing the navy tank top she'd knitted, which she'd asked for help in blocking. It turned out great and fits well! And YES, she is very proud, too! She's also finished quilting and binding the strip quilt, her first quilt!
Thanks to ALL… B C. swept the floor. G cleaned the bathroom. Many quilted after lunch and got 2 quilts out and 2 quilts in frames, and a quilt rolled; ALL "ready... set... GO... for next week! Thanks to M and N for their help last week in unpacking and wrestling the BIG roll of batting (jokingly referred to as a yellow snowman).
QUILTING NEWS: Embroidery completed - a center by ME - "Now I Lay Me...and 2 sets of squares by B - "A B C's" and D - new patterns of "Sunbonnet Sue". One quilt was sold - the embroidered floral chain. Two quilts came out of the frames (a pink "Now I Lay Me..." and animal squares with gingham frames); and 2 replacement quilts were put in the frames. Five quilt tops were sewn this week ( 2 bouquets, 2 baseball and a "Ring...".
MEMORIAL DAY: Hope you'all have a RED / WHITE / BLUE celebration! This cherished, patriotic holiday honors those who died defending our freedom and democracy.
Next week's my favorite 5th Tuesday of the month, an extra quilting day for thee and me! tee! hee!
Corrections: Last week was May 17, 2016! I wasn't "a day late or a dollar short", but like to think I was just progressive, thinking/planning ahead! ha! ha! And the color of the new, 2016 Directory is vibrant PINK., (not a pint of brew from a British or Irish pub).
