June 10th Quilting
Post date: Jun 11, 2014 3:36:17 PM
Once the rain cleared out, turned out to be a beautiful, sunny day and brought 20 of our "sewing bees". Thanks to all who worked on the breast cancer quilt! YEA! With your extra time/stitches today, responding to the sound of the "cracking whip", it is finished and out of the frame! Already have the baby, contract quilt in the frame to finish. Thanks to A, B, C, J, R and S. M., the 7 "rolly chairs" are bought and already put to use today. We all enjoyed M's lunch dessert treat, an old-fashioned "STACK CAKE"!!! YUM! YUM! Our June speaker, Susan Young from the Shiloh Museum left copies of the recipe. Thanks C for the home-grown fresh snap peas and leaf lettuce to share. MISSING item: J's leather, scissor sheath; we've been hunting..., have any ideas of WHERE, OH! Where it might be? We had quite a discussion today about using the Razorback logo for quilts, without infringing on the copy-right trademark. Talk with D. J. if you're privy to protocol... GO HOGS! W~o~o... pig.. sooie...
Good to have M return today, and she brought embroidered, KITTY squares, a quilt project to be sewn this week. S shared some of her doll quilts she's designed and sewn! WOW! Really intricate patterns! T brought wild-animal patterned hot pads, a gift from her foreign exchange student; she wanted ideas of HOW to else to use them; one idea was to create a table runner. AGAIN, M completed her Aunt D's 90th birthday gift, purple squares quilt in record time, (like we say, M must have more hours in her days)!!!! Did you find YOUR 4" purple squares in the quilt, she'd asked us to bring in? What an imaginative creation! And P brought in a 'celestial' pattern quilt for trimming, she's making for her grandson. D wants digital quilt photos for the Chapel web-page.
Just remember to sing this tune each Tuesday... "HI! HO! HI! HO! It's off to quilting we must go..."
